Veribest

Veribest is an unincorporated community in Tom Green County, Texas. It has a population of about 40. It is part of the San Angelo, Texas Metropolitan Statistical Area. In the 2000 census, the population of Veribest was forty. It is located approximately 25 miles south of San Angelo.

The community’s name is a play on Best, a town that’s not too far away. In fact, the two towns are even rivals. Best got its name from railroad investor Tom Best, while Veribest was named after a jar of mayonnaise. This small town has a lot to offer families, as well as great shopping and dining.

Veribest is located in eastern Tom Green County. It was originally known as Mullins. The Concho River in the area bears the town’s name. In the early 1900s, Veribest had a population of about 100. However, during the Second World War, many residents left to find work. As a result, the population dropped to just forty in 1949. In the 1990s, Veribest had two churches and seven businesses.

The Veribest area has many affordable hotels and motels. Many of these hotels offer great discounts on room rates and many have swimming pools and free breakfast. Veribest ISD is a small school district in Texas with a total enrollment of 257 students. A large proportion of students are considered economically disadvantaged. Almost half of the students are enrolled in bilingual or English language learning programs. The school received a B accountability rating for the 2018-2019 school year. Its ACT scores averaged 20.4.
