Visit the Eola Hills State Park
The Eola Hills State Park is a gem of a park that’s been quietly tucked away in the hills of central Texas for decades. This park has a ton of great hiking trails as well as a few lagoons that are perfect for relaxing and enjoying the outdoors. You can find us in the spring for wildflowers, summer for wild berries, fall for fall colors, and winter for winter sports and snowshoeing. We have camping, cabins, and a lodge available for our visitors. If you’re in the area, or just looking for a great place to visit, we highly recommend visiting the Eola Hills State Park. The park is not far from Austin, and offers a quiet escape from the city. The park is also very family-friendly, and has a lot to offer for kids.

Explore Downtown Eola
Eola is a small Texas town with a lot of character. While it’s easy to miss in the hustle and bustle of Austin, it’s worth making a stop in Eola to wander its historic downtown area. Eola has a couple of old buildings that have been nicely restored and make up the downtown area. Downtown Eola also has several antique stores and art galleries. There’s also a nice park downtown that’s great for exploring. Eola has its own antique store, a few art galleries and antique stores. The old courthouse is a beautiful building and is a great place to get a photo from. The train museum is also worth a visit.
Explore Austin Colony Ruins

Austin Colony Ruins is the perfect place to explore ruins if you’re visiting Eola. This place is a bit of a drive from Eola (about an hour) but well worth the drive. Just outside of Austin, you’ll find this incredible archaeological site. Austin Colony Ruins is one of the best-preserved ancient Texas communities, with more than 250 structures that give us insight into the daily lives of the residents. The ruins are beautifully maintained and include a variety of ruins including a native village, Roman Catholic missions, and Anglo-American homes. Explore the ruins, which include a visitor center that has a look into the lives of the ancient people who created this amazing place.

Eat at The Faded Rose Cafe
The Faded Rose Cafe is a restaurant in downtown Eola that’s worth visiting. The cafe is a nice little place that serves up some great Texas-style food. You can expect to find plenty of burgers and sandwiches on the menu, as well as a few Texas beers on tap. The cafe is also a great place to meet up with locals or visitors alike to enjoy some Tex-Mex, burgers, or some other local delicacy. While it isn’t the fanciest place in town, it’s a great place to enjoy a relaxing meal while in town.
Stop by and Hike at Bastrop State Historic Site

If you’re in Eola and looking for a quick hike, we recommend checking out Bastrop State Historic Site. This 132-acre park is a great place to hike, bike, or just relax while in the outdoors. The park has several hiking trails that are great for exploring, as well as a scenic waterfront area where you can enjoy a picnic or just relax. While Bastrop State Historic Site is a great park, it’s also a great place to explore. There are a few historic buildings in town that make for a nice side trip when visiting Eola.
